Scuba Diving in Massawa

The coastal city of Massawa is the largest natural deep water port on the Red Sea. It is a city built on the fossil remains of a coral reef. Massawa is divided into three parts, Batse Island (aka Batswa Island), Tualud Island (aka Twalet Island), and mainland Massawa. All three sections are connected by causeways. The island of Batse has many interesting historic sites and the island of Taulud has several small hotels. There is usually a lot of fish and other sea life around Massawa but there is also usually quite a lot of plankton.
