Scuba Diving for Children

Information about early scuba diving training for children.

Age 5
PADI: Supplied Air Snorkeling for Youth (SASY)

Age 6
BSAC: Basic Snorkel Diver

Age 8-9 - PADI Bubblemaker Course
- PADI SEAL Team Course
- PADI Skin Diver Course
SSI: Scuba Rangers

Age 10-11
- PADI "Junior Open Water Diver" (dive with parent or pro)
- PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver (dive with parent or pro)

Age 12-14
- PADI Junior Open Water Diver (dive with certified adult)
- PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver (dive with certified adult)
- PADI Junior Rescue Diver
- PADI Junior Master Scuba Diver

Age 12
BSAC: Entry level diving course (Ocean Diver)
PADI: Full Open Water (can dive with qualified adult)

Age 15
When PADI certified divers turn 15 they can upgrade their PADI scuba certification card to a version that no longer includes any age-related restrictions.
